What an awesome weekend!

It was hot and beautiful. Everywhere I went crazy positive vibes were around me, as though everything I felt was for the very first time.
It all started on Friday night. I had met with my close friend, we had planned to go to Downtown. The sun put a smile on my face, and I put on my sunglasses. It was quite and peaceful, until we reached the station. It was filled with youngsters, who were ready to drink and party. I immediately noticed their high energy levels :) I can use that for my next song.
We took the light rail train to the 8th and 8th to check out the new bar on Stephen Ave and meet up with the newest member of our band. She can sing. We had a few drinks there, motivational conversations about life and music, and decided that it was time to play music. We needed a guitar. A phone call later and we had a place and the resources to continue our amazing get-together to solidify our plans for the vocal and instrumental approach in our songs.
Upon our arrival, the sun was beginning to set. It was a beautiful sunset. I didn’t need my sunglasses anymore.
On the way to her place, we stopped at the store to get some drinks, and now was the time to open up the goodies. I went for Carlsberg, another one for juice, she went for Smirnoff Ice. Ice Ice baby :)) She had a guitar lying around somewhere in the closet with an amp. We dug it out, I opened the case, and said: “Wow!”. It was a $1500 Jackson guitar, the type of guitar that I would only see at the music store or at the concert, the type I never got to play before. I guess there is a first time for everything. Wait a minute, how long has it been standing in the closet? Of course it was out of tune and made only noise instead of beautiful music. Tried to tune it, the strings are old, one snapped. I restrung the guitar, now we’re ready.
Few hours later, of playing old songs, singing, reading poetry in both Russian and English, we decided to move on towards a new adventure. We ran out of drinks anyways :) It was time to hit the sheesha bar and get some food while we’re there. As we were approaching the place, having a nice smoke, we have met up with two Russians. Two ladies from our motherland. They didn’t know many people in Calgary, so they were also glad to have met us. We exchanged numbers and continued to our destination.
The chicken shawarma was goood. Filled with all sorts of veggies, spices, sauce, mmm delicio :) We got the Douple Apple mixed with White Grape sheesha. The smoke filled my lungs, I was totally relaxed. We were happy and high, laughing hard at each other’s jokes. It might not come as a surprise anymore but we met some more Russians. It was a young couple – students. Good luck on the finals :) LOL We invited them to join us, they accepted. Time flies when you are having a blast, my phone read 2.15am, and there is only place that is open at this time. It was time for…. that’s right the Warehouse.
As usual it was filled with my Asian brothers and sisters, bold and tattooed drug dealers, drunk girls in miniskirts or high on coke, and overweight bouncers. Two Red Bull please, the alcohol is not served after 2:00 am, but the place is open till the morning. I was beginnig to get wired. Last time I was at the club was in February, so it was my chance to catch up on dancing, bumping and grinding :) The DJ made sure I couldn’t just stand there, I could feel the drive in his music, and the way he was spinning. Crazy beats. But you can only go for so long, listening to that stuff. It was half past four. Time to sleep.
To be continued…
